Course Reflection

I am really enjoying this Screen and Media course, as it is helping me with validation that creativity comes from curiosity and knowledge. and that Ideas can be made from everywhere. And how we need to be cautious in our inventing to make sure we are not copying someone else’s content.

And I am excited to learn more from this course.

Curiosity

Did you know that curiosity is the main key to creativity and inventions. And how you may be asking?

Without Curiosity, how are you able to think creatively, without knowing the things you are curious to know about? How are you going to be knowledged on your invention if your not curious about the research.

Curiosity opens doors for knowledge and skills to acquire for your invention/creation. It helps you understand things better and can help you solve your mistakes. Because theres no creativity without the knowledge first.

Issues with creativity

When you think about it, there are many issues to be faced with creativity. With being cautious that you’re not copying someone else’s content. Or to be cautious that your creative content makes sense and is useful for what ever. Complying with these issues could result in things such as copyright, removal of content, etc.

Where do Ideas come from?

Ideas are everywhere. There a billions and trillions of ideas to come up with for a story, movie, invention, song and more. And you may be thinking to yourself, where do they come from? Well the answer is simple, it comes from you, from your brain. You may be thinking how?

Well did you know, it is nearly impossible to invent something that is 100% original. But how, you must wondering? Well to create something original means that the content all started from you, meaning there was no inspiration to start it.

For example, the iPhone is not an original invention. Apple did not start technology. They were inspired by other technology, and that technology was made from materials like metal, silver, plastic. And no one of course invented metal, because its a natural resource from earth.

So ideas are made from critical thinking by remixing and combining ideas to become useful. Or ideas could come from learning from mistakes, for example, a diaper. No one wants there baby’s underwear to be covered in the faeces, so they learnt from that mistake to come up with disposable, comfortable underwear, called a diaper.

That is how ideas are made, critical thinking, remixing and learning from yours and other mistakes.
